Q: How are
you today?
A: I arrived yesterday back from Australia and I feel very tired after
that long trip. I am gonna stay home and rest now for 3 days before I
start practicing again.
Q: Looking back
to the Australian Open? How was your match against Santangelo?
A: First I was very disappointed as I didn’t take my chance to reach the
3rd round. I already had a break in the 1st set and I should have held it.
Against her you can not allow to make many unforced errors as she is a
very steady player who doesn’t miss much. For me it is always hard to play
against someone who is unknown on the tour.
Q: So what is
your personal conclusion of the Australian Open?
A: Since I had a very good draw I expected more matched to win. I was very
disappointed after that 2nd round loss but as always you have to try to
take the positive things out of it. I felt really well prepared but at the
moment it is just a lack of confidence which always shows on my close
matches.
Q: What about
the doubles with Patty Schnyder?
A: Of course it was also very disappointing to lose in the 2nd round. We
just both played terrible at the same time which never happens to us much.
Q: So what are
your plans for the next days?
A: I will practice for a week in Salzburg with my coach to get ready for
the Paris indoor tournament. My main focus will be to work on my serve as
it is very important indoors.
Q: How do you
feel about playing qualifications in all the next tournaments?
A: This is a hard thing for me to get used to play Qualifications but I
know I need the matches to gain confidence again. I am still very
motivated because I know I can match with the good players.
Q: How is it to
back together with your old coach Gerald Mandl?
A: I enjoy it very much to be back with Gerald. He knows me very well and
we have lots of fun together also outside the court. He always believes in
me and I feel that we train the right things to be back soon. We have
focused a lot on my fitness and I feel much better on the court.
Q: Has your new
racket got a positive affect on your tennis?
A: Yes, it does. I feel very comfortable with the new racket from
Sportastic. I control the ball much better and get also much more power
out of it. I am sure I made the right decision.
