Hard-hitting Dokic Downs Schett
.

Jelena Dokic reached the last 16 at Wimbledon for the third successive time today when she overcame Barbara Schett 6-3 7-5 in one hour and five minutes.

The 18-year-old from Yugoslavia, who has reached the Semi-Finals and Quarter-Finals in her two previous appearances at The Championships, earned a match against 1999 Champion Lindsay Davenport with a hard-hitting, no-nonsense display.

Her father and coach Damir glared down on to Court 1 but his daughter must have given him something to smile about inside as she overcame the 21st seed from Austria.

The Austrian broke the Dokic serve to reduce the arrears to 4-3 in the second set. But the 14th seed held her nerve as she raced to three match points at 6-5, jumping for joy as Schett double-faulted to clinch victory for the former Australian.
