1. Hi Barbara,
I was just wondering if whether you were coming out and doing any commentary for
Fox Sports Australia as part of the 2006 Australian Open? Just one more... Will
you be the 'face' of Wilson at their marquee stand also whilst the tournament is
on?
All the best,
Corey, Australia
Babsi: I will mainly be working for EuroSport at
the Aussie Open, but I will also do a few matches for The BBC and Fox Sports
Australia.
2. Will you play for TC Moers in the german tennis bundesliga next year ?
Uwe, Germany
Babsi: I am not playing Bundesliga anymore, it's
very tough to play now that I am retired. I will leave that up to the younger
generation!
3. What is the best thing about being a tennis celebrity?
Have a nice day.
Derek, USA
Babsi: The best thing that tennis has given me is
the fact that I have been lucky enough to travel around the world, meet great
people, and do something that I have loved doing.
4. Now that you have been retired
from tennis for nearly a year what are the things that you miss and don't miss?
Steven, UK
Babsi: I am very happy to be retired, I can now
chose what to do, whenever I want, no time schedules. I miss seeing my friends
at the tournaments, but I still speak to them often though.
5. You were fully involved in the
Linz tournament. Did this experience give you the envy of running a tennis
tournament somehow?
Romain, France
Babsi: I was happy to be involved in the Linz
Tournament, it was a great experience, but for the time being, I have no desire
to run an event myself, maybe in a few years.
6. About golf: I've heard you've handicap 37. Do
you think of any reconversion in golf or would you like to follow the way of
your compatriot and colleague Judith Floimair (Wiesner) who reached Handicap 2?
Romain, France
Babsi: I have just started playing golf
and I am enjoying the challenge of playing a different sport. It's a tough game
and my goal is to get my handicap below 10.It may take a while, but I will give
it a shot!
7. Where in India did you travel?
Mark, USA
Babsi: On my trip to India I went to Mumbai,
Bhujand and Pune.

1.What sightseeing did you do during your final trip to Australia?
Mark, USA
Babsi: I went skydiving in Melbourne, went to
several different beaches! At the end I didn't really do a lot of sight seeing!
I wanted to go home after being there for one month!
2. Were you able to quickly recover from bad losses? Any losses still haunt
you?
Mark, USA
Babsi: I was always very good in recovering from
bad losses! I'm a very positive and happy person and a lost match could never
change that!
3. Are there any cities or countries that you have never been to before that you
would like to visit?
Steve, Australia
Babsi: I would love to visit South Africa since
I've never been there! Also, the north of Europe....Iceland, Finland, Sweden,!
Toscana, Venezia, Thailand. There's so many places I haven't been and I would
like to visit!
4.In the future, are you going to coach or give advice from your great
experience to the young Austrian generation (Tamira
Paszek, Daniela Kix...)? According to you, who is the most promising player
among all of them?
Romain, France
Babsi: I haven't really had a chance to see some
of the promising players in Austria! The only one I saw was Tamira Paszek!
That's why I cannot really answer who is the most promising player!
5. When you go to Paris, what are the monuments you like to visit the most (when
you have the time of course)?
Romain, France
Babsi: I love to walk along the Champs Elysee! Go
up the Eiffel tour, the Louvre or go to little city areas of Paris...
6. Will you attend Austria's FedCup Team in their first round battle vs. France
in Pörtschach ? Will I see you there ?
Rene, Austria
Babsi: I will go to Pörtschach to watch the
Austrian girls play against France in FedCup...yes
7. Hi Babsi, I was wondering if you would ever be interested in coaching a WTA
player?
Shannon, USA
Babsi: Not really, more giving players advice

1.Dear Babsi, Can you describe a normal day
of practicing. Are there certain things you do differently during a tournament?
Thanks, you're awesome and get well soon.
Shaleigh, USA
Babsi: Whenever I'm home I practise 2 hours in
the morning and about 1 1/2 in the afternoon, then I go for a run or do some
weight lifting! Every 2nd day I do a sprint program before my tennis sessions!
And the end of the day I regularly have a massage!
During the tournament I probably hit for two hours each day, mainly
matchtraining! Still do some sprints but just 20min maybe! If I'm still in
the tournament I don't do any fitness! You have to save the energy for the
matches!
2.About your "new career" next year: Will you keep on training with Gerald Mandl
when you play for TC Moers 08 in the German Bundesliga?
Romain, France.
Babsi: I will mix it up a bit! I will still
practise with Gerald a bit! I do know a lot of people though I can hit with as
well!
3.Hi Babsi, Hopefully you recover soon from your operation.
Do you have any idea who you re gonna play doubles with on the Australion Open?
Maybe you and Molik can team up again like in stockholm!
You were amazing there! And I think you both will come very far and it will be a
great goodbye.
I hope you will change your mind about retiring, because i am your biggest fan
since 1999 and it will be hard to miss you on the tour. Whatever your decision
is I wish you the best.
Greetz Steven from Belgium
Babsi: I will be playing with Patty Schnyder at
the Australian Open!
4.Hi Babsi,
i´m a huge Babsi fan.
I wrote for you the poem "Babsi" and gave it to you in Berlin this year.
Do you read the poem and do you like it ?
Best Regards !
Uwe, Germany
Babsi: I read the poem and I loved it! I always
wanted to write you a thank you note but obviously I forgot! It must have taken
you a lot of time to write it! Thanks a lot...I really enjoyed reading it!
5.How hard was it for you to leave your hometown, your family, your friends to
move to Vienna "Südstadt" for professional training at the age of 14 -how did
you get the chance to do it ?
Rene, Austria
Babsi: It was a bit hard at the beginning to
leave Innsbruck when I was 15! After a couple of months I felt very comtable in
Vienna though! I was surrounded by different athletes and I made a lot of
friends there!
I went to Südstadt because the Austrian Federation gave everyone who was
talented to practise there and go to school at the same time! The federation
also paid my coach and my travel expenses which would have been too much if I
would have stayed back home!
6.Where do you live most of your time (in your rest time) - in Salzburg,
Innsbruck or Munich ?
Rene, Austria
Babsi: The most time I spend would be in
Innsbruck, followed by Salzburg and then Munich.
7.As circumstances have come together to make you as spectator for the Fed Cup
finals could I ask if what kind of tennis spectator do you make whilst watching
your Austrian team? Do you get very nervous watching?
Paul, UK
Babsi: Of course I get very nervous watching my
compatriots playing Fed Cup! I am a terrible spectator...I tend to get very
nervous if I want someone to win!
8.I believe in your interview during your Linz you said you wished to learn the
Piano in your tennis retirement, do have any other ambitions to achieve with
your new time away from the court? Will you be continuing with your clothing
designs?
Paul, UK
Babsi: Besides learning the piano I would like to
learn another language (Spanish or Italian)! I want to take Yoga lessons and I'm
sure some things will come up....

1.Dear Barbara,
How do you find the drawing I made of you wearing the jacket???
BTW: Sorry if it is not perfect in details (and anyway perfection doesn't exist
in our world...lol!), as I hadn't a real model at that moment; I received the
jacket by the post last week, and so I was very very glad!
Thanks so much again!
And best wishes for success at the US Open!
Best Regards!
Romain, France
Babsi: Of course I saw your painting with
me wearing the Innsbruck Jacket! It must be tough to draw me without seeing me!
It´s not bad but I think I look a little chubby:-)
2.Who is your best friend from ATP (schuettler)?
Andrew from Cracov
Babsi: My best male friend is definitely Joshua
Eagle, he retired though! Also Rainer and of course with the Austrians!
3.Hi Babsi,
I am a huge fan of you.
My question: are you playing mixed doubles with Rainer, because together you can
come far in the tournament.
You're both one of the best double players.
Lots of success at the US Open
Steven, Belgium
Babsi: I won't play mixed with Rainer here in
N.Y.! It was a one time thing for him to play mixed at Wimbledon since he really
wants to concentrate on his singles! I will play with Julian Knowle, an Austrian
player! It'll be the first time for me to play mixed with a countryman...looking
forward!
4.Miss Schett ... After your tennis playing career has reached it's natural
conclusion would you consider becoming a ladies tennis color commentator for
Austria or Euro-Sport Network? ... I feel that with your vast ladies tennis tour
experience you should be able to give important insights into the game as few
others could. ... Also as you are so photogenic it certainly would be an
incentive to tune in your tennis program.
With kindest Regards and All Due Respects. ... Norm. ... Upstate New York.
Babsi: I am definitely interested to do some
commentary after my career for Austrian TV! I do think it's very important to
get infos from a former tennis player as a viewer!
5. A few years ago, you were playing against Panova in Hamburg and you retired
early in the second set. There was a story on the internet that you had a
serious heart/viral condition. You missed a few tournaments after, but played at
Roland Garros and nothing further was mentioned about this. What was this about?
Mark, USA
Babsi: My heart is fine, it was not a major
problem! They just found out that my cardiac valve was leaking a little bit and
as an athlete you just have to be very careful with that! I'm healthy and fine,
don't worry!
6. At the U.S. Open, you will play a qualifier. When a draw is made, would you
rather know your opponent's identity instead of having to wait to see who
qualifies then which qualifier is drawn to play you?
Mark, USA
Babsi: It doesn't really matter since I will know
my opponent Friday night already and I will have enough time to get ready to
prepare myself for the match!
7. When you play in a tournament, do you do any sightseeing? I see that you will
be playing in Beijing, which I think is your first time there. The Great Wall is
about a 2 hour drive from Beijing so I hope you will have the opportunity to see
it on a day when you don't play.
Mark, USA
Babsi: I always try to do sightseeing at
tournaments! It's just not so easy if u have to play matches and practise!
There's not too much time left most of the times! If I go to Beijing I will
definitely try to see the great wall!!
8. What are you aims for the rest of this season (ranking ?)
Rene, Austria
Babsi: My aims are still to get around 50 which
will not be easy!
9. Fed Cup: Do you believe in a victory for Austria ? What would a win mean for
you (could it be equally compared with a olympic medal, grand slam win ) ?
Rene, Austria
Babsi: It would mean a lot to me to win the Fed
Cup but a Grand Slam title or a Olympic medal would still mean much more to me!
It feels unbelievable though to have success in a team....it's a complete
different feeling! |
