Austria took a 2-0 lead over Croatia in the quarterfinals of the Fed Cup Saturday, with Barbara Schett defeating Jelena Kostanic, and Barbara Schwartz beating Iva Majoli.

Schett had no problems showing up Kostanic 6-2, 6-1. Her win added to the lead conquered earlier by Schwartz, the world' No. 69, who defeated Majoli in two straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.

"Following my teammate's great display, I knew I had to take the chance and make it 2-0," Schett said. "I was very concentrated right from the start on putting Kostanic under pressure; my match plan worked out."
